Jemima Shore, im DDR-Fernsehen liefen 7 Folgen unter dem Titel Harte Fälle in zarten Händen (sic), wäre wahrscheinlich nichts Besonderes, wäre es nicht ein Patricia Hodge-Vehikel.
Jemima ist eine TV-Moderatorin adliger Abstammung und nebenberuflich Privatdetektivin. Wie man sieht, hat dies hier nicht viel mit der Straße zu tun, sondern ist ein Produkt, das eigentlich nur in England entstehen kann: eine Kreuzung aus Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes und einem kleinen Schuß Midsummer Nightmare.

Die Serie basiert auf den Romanen von Antonia Fraser und wurde produziert von Tim Aspinall (1935 - 2000) für Thames Television. Aspinall hatte bereits 1982 mit dem Dreiteiler Quiet as a Nun Jemima Shore, hier noch gespielt von Maria Aitken, bildschirmtauglich gemacht. Regie führte u.a. der ehemalige Van der Valk-Designer Neville Green.
